American Electric Power’s Flint Creek Power Plant has been lighting up the surrounding community since 1978, but with new EPA regulations in place, a lot of work needed to be done to get the plant up to code.
The NECA/IBEW team knew from the get-go that they were the right team for the job. Taking matters into their own hands, the IBEW called the CEO of American Electric Power and outright asked to do the project. It was quickly decided that this would, in fact, be best as a NECA/IBEW project.
Pledging to work each day under the Code of Excellence, a formal agreement between labor and the contractor where each side holds up their own end the bargain, was a pillar of this project’s success. The project is being completed safely, on schedule, and with a quality of craftsmanship that goes beyond expectations.
