More than 10,000 families across the Navajo Nation still live without basic electricity. Through the “Light Up Navajo” initiative, union electrical workers and industry partners are working to change that — one home at a time. In this Electric TV feature, we spotlight the mission of Electrical Workers Without Borders North America (EWWBNA) and the volunteers dedicating their time and trade skills to bring power to remote communities across the Navajo Nation. Supported by the Navajo Tribal Utility Authority (NTUA), utility groups nationwide, IBEW members, and NECA contractors, this effort is about more than infrastructure — it’s about dignity, opportunity, and connection. The video also explores the larger mission of EWWBNA, an organization founded in 2015 to provide electrical assistance projects around the world. While volunteers continue to step forward, additional funding is critical to expanding these life-changing efforts and reaching more families in need. Featuring IBEW members from Locals 1245, 611, and 3, this story highlights the power of the NECA-IBEW partnership and the real-world impact union electrical workers can make both at home and abroad.
