US Bank Stadium, the newest addition to this storied NFL franchise, is home to the Minnesota Vikings. Whether or not you are a fan of the team, the stadium itself is something to be celebrated. Inspired by the team’s namesake, the Vikings, the stadium looks like a ship sailing to the heart of downtown Minneapolis. But it is what is inside, and what the Powering America NECA/IBEW team accomplished, that is truly astounding.
Parsons Electric, Gunnar Electric, IBEW Local 292, IBEW Local 110, and Minneapolis Chapter NECA teamed up to make this project possible. Scoreboards that are larger than life. Speakers as big as school buses. Thousands of high quality, smart, energy-efficient LED lights. A high-tech Wi-Fi infrastructure that can accommodate for over 30,000 simultaneous connections. 3 electrical services, 12,000 amps at 14 kilovolts each – that’s enough to power 165,000 homes. This list goes on and on…
But perhaps most importantly it was completed on-time and under-budget, allowing for the Vikings to open the season, the first for US Bank Stadium, in primetime this Sunday night.
