Although women make up about 2% of the construction industry, those two percent are certainly making a name for themselves. And not only are they continuously rising in the ranks, they are making sure they are steadily growing that percentage by recruiting more women into the industry.
The NECA/IBEW Powering America Team has long been an agent for change in the construction industry – and a part of why they have been successful is partly by their understanding that change is “never a finished product”. We can always do better. As demand for skilled labor increases and the Powering America Team increases its ranks, we must focus on opening our doors to everyone, no matter their gender, ethnicity, sexual orientation, etc. The NECA/IBEW Powering America Team knows that it doesn’t matter who is on the job as long as the work is getting done.
While there may not be a “glass ceiling” in the electrical industry, these electricians are certainly breaking down barriers for all minorities.
